Nancy's Knitting
Anyone who has been in Spin A Yarn has seen me at the counter knitting.  Every day I am asked "What are you knitting?"  So, I'll tell you.  I don't want to call this a blog, because I am terrible at diaries.  Always have been.  But, I will try to let you know what is on my needles and in my knitting bag monthly.  So maybe we'll call it my knitting journey.
Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Wow, busy month.  Not so much knitting, just life.  My son graduated from high school this month, so we had the graduation party, prom, other people's parties and graduation.  Whew, I'm ready to sit down and relax (aka knit).

I got a few things done this month. The Blue Heron Rayon Metallic scarf I showed you in progress last month - done!  Stop in and see it.  it is really pretty and feels so good.  I even had to order more of the yarn - we sold out.  There is a one skein tank top on their website for this yarn too.

And my journey and enjoyment of the new Jojoland Yarns continues.  With the worsted weight, Ryhthm, I designed and made this Entrelac Bordered Sweater - (The pattern is available).  I wanted the entrelac border to be worked down instead of up so that you didn't have to pick up from the end if the entrelac, so I used a provisional cast on and knit the sweater first, then took out the cast on and knit the entrelac border from there.  The sleeves were easier, because I knit them from the top down and then did the border.  If you aren't familiar with some of these things, this is a great way to learn them.  The pattern is written with all the same techniques I used.  I love the results and the yarn!  This yarn is wool and spit spliced beautifully, so now it's got me thinking.... It would be great felted.  So, maybe next month??

This beautiful yarn comes in fingering weight also.  So you know what that means, I had to try it.  And so, we have the Swirl Shawl.  This is all from ONE colorway of the yarn.  Amazing!  Same with the sweater.

And I decided I needed (Needed, haha!) a basic black shawl.  To go with anything.  So I started this.  It is being done with Cashmerino, size 6 needles and a few beads.  Again the provisional cast on, so I can add a lace border afterwards.

I almost forgot, I did this adorable little sweater from Berroco's Pure Merino, it was a free pattern from their site.  You can get it at http://www.berroco.com/knitbits/knitbits_241_H.html or we have a copy available at the shop with the yarn.  So cute!

Next month...maybe something felted with Jojoland's Rhythm?  I also have my eye on the cover sweater from the summer Interweave Knits, with sleeves, of course.  The yarn is sitting on my desk staring at me.  Pretty soon it will start to yell, then I am in real trouble.  Yes of course there are those unfinished projects hanging around, we'll see......

And of course there are still the unfinished projects from last month still in my bag....  The Alice Starmore sweater, the Koigu Mosaic Jacket and my son's tie... not a stitch knit on them.  I'll probably say this for many months to come!

... Until next month... Nancy
